Human Rights Film Center (HRFC) has decided to postpone the 8th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival (NHRIFF), which was scheduled to kick off on Wednesday March 4, 2020. Honoring the appeal of Government of Nepal to not organize any large meetings, conference, festivals, gathering and any other events in view of the possible risk of COVID-19 (Corona), HRFC has made this decision.
HRFC has been organizing NHRIFF as an annual event regularly, where films made on human rights issues globally are screened. In the 8th edition of the festival this year, 84 films from 32 countries were scheduled to be screened. 22 filmmakers from 17 countries were traveling to Nepal to participate in the festival this year.
HRFC appreciates the appeal of the Government of Nepal as precautionary measure to check possible spread of COVID-19. HRFC will declare next date of the Festival once the situation is under control. The same films already selected for the festival will be screened on the next date too.
HRFC apologizes for the inconvenience caused on the national and international filmmakers, the participants and audiences, supporters, sponsors and others due to this cancellation of the festival.
